NO-Replace the relay, and recheck.
3. Measure the voltage between the sub-throttle motor relay 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES-Go to step 4.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the underhood fuse/relay box and the sub-throttle motor relay.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
5. Measure the voltage between the sub-throttle motor relay 4P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES-Go to step 6.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the fail-safe relay and the sub-throttle motor relay.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Disconnect VSA control unit connector A(22P).
8. Connect the sub-throttle motor relay 4P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 with a jumper wire.
9. Measure the voltage between VSA control unit connector A(22P) terminal No. 10 and body ground.
Is there about 10 V?
YES-Go to step 10.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the VSA control unit and the sub-throttle motor relay.
10. Disconnect VSA control unit connector B (16P), and remove the jumper wire from the sub-throttle motor relay 4P connector.
11. Check for continuity between VSA control unit connector B (16P) terminal No.12 and sub-throttle motor relay 4P connector terminal No. 3.
Is there continuity?

Is there continuity?
YES-Go to step 13.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the VSA control unit and body ground.
13. Disconnect the VSA-TCS control valve actuator 2P connector.
14. Check for continuity between body ground and the VSA control unit connector A(22P) terminals No. 11 and No. 21 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES-Repair short to body ground in the wire between the VSA control unit and the VSA-TCS control valve actuator.
NO-Go to step 15.
15. Reconnect VSA control unit connector A (22P) and connector B (16P).
16. Check for continuity between VSA control unit connector C (26P) terminal No. 23 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES-Go to step 17.

Is there continuity?
YES-Go to step 19.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the VSA control unit and the VSA-TCS control valve actuator.
19. Check for continuity between VSA control unit connector A(22P) terminal No. 21 and VSA-TCS control valve actuator 2P connector terminal No. 2.
Is there continuity?
YES-Go to step 20.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the VSA control unit and the VSA-TCS control valve actuator.
20. Check for continuity between the VSA-TCS control valve actuator 2P connector (actuator side) terminal No. 1 and body ground.

NO-Replace the VSA-TCS control valve assembly.
22. Connect battery power to the TCS control valve actuator 2P connector terminal No. 1, and ground connector terminal No. 2 for 1 second.
NOTE:
Be careful not to short the terminals.
After checking, disconnect the terminals.
Does the TCS control valve operate smoothly?
YES-Check for loose VSA control unit connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA control unit, and recheck.
NO-Replace the TCS control valve assembly.
