DTC 9-1: Internal Failure of the SRS Unit

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.




2. Disconnect SRS unit connector C (8P) from the SRS unit.




3. Remove the gauge assembly. Disconnect gauge assembly connector A (22p*) or (20p*) from the gauge assembly.
* 1: '02-04 models
* 2: '05-06 models




4. Check resistance between the No. 5 terminal of SRS unit connector C (8P) and body ground. The should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Go to step 5.

NO - Short to ground in the PNK wire of dashboard wire harness or floor wire harness. Replace the faulty harness.




5. Reconnect the gauge assembly connector A (22p*) or (20p*) to the gauge assembly.
* 1: '02-04 models
* 2: '05-06 models




6. Check resistance between the No. 5 terminal of SRS unit connector C (8P) and body ground. There should be 500 Ohms or more.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.

NO - Faulty SRS indicator circuit in the gauge assembly; replace the gauge assembly.
