XM Radio Preset Memory Is Lost

XM Radio preset memory is lost

1. Set each of the XM radio channel preset buttons.

Do each of the XM radio channel preset buttons set properly?

YES - Go to step 2.

NO - Go to step 4.

2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 1 minute, then turn it back to ON (II).
3. Test all of the XM radio channel preset buttons for proper recall operation.

Do the preset buttons recall the set radio stations?

YES - System is normal at this time. Check connections at the audio unit.

NO - Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Disconnect the XM receiver connector A (14P).




6. Measure the voltage between the XM receiver connector A1 terminal and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?

YES - Go to step 7.

NO - '05 model: Repair an open wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and XM receiver connector A terminal. '06 model: Repair an open wire between the audio unit connector B1 terminal and XM receiver connector A terminal.

7. Reconnect the XM receiver connector A (14P).




8. Check for voltage between the XM receiver connector A11 terminal and body ground.

Is there less than 0.1 V?

YES - Check the pinfit at the XM receiver connector A11 terminal. If the connection is OK, substitute a known-good XM receiver, then reconnect all connectors and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original XM receiver. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio unit.

NO - Go to step 9.

9. Disconnect the XM receiver connector A (14P) and the audio unit connector B (14P).




10. Check for continuity between the XM receiver unit connector A (14P) terminal 11 and the audio unit connector B (14P) terminal 11.

Is there continuity?

YES - Check the pinfit at the audio unit connector B (14P) terminal 11. If the connection is OK, substitute a known-good XM receiver, then reconnect all connectors and recheck the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original XM receiver. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio unit.

NO - Repair an open in the wire between the XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal 11 and the audio connector B (14P) terminal 11.
