XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (Canada models, USA models without navigation)

NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.






Is there battery voltage?

YES - Go to step 2.

NO - Repair open in the wire between No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.






Is there battery voltage?

YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Repair open in the wire between audio unit connector B (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2. If the wire is OK, substitute a known-good audio unit and recheck.

4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.






Is there less than 0.1V ?

YES - Go to step 5.

NO - Repair open in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground (G604).

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Remove the audio-HVAC display module assembly, and disconnect audio unit connector B (14P) and display panel control unit connector E (22P) (with navigation).
7. Disconnect XM receiver connector A (14P) and navigation unit connector A (20P) (with navigation).
8. Check for continuity between body ground and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals No. 9 and No. 10 individually.






Is there continuity?

YES - Short to body ground in the wire(s) between XM receiver, audio unit, display panel control unit (Canada models with navigation) and navigation unit (Canada models with navigation). Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 9.

9. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) according to the table.






Is there continuity?

YES - Short in the wire(s) between XM receiver, audio unit, display panel control unit (Canada models with navigation) and navigation unit (Canada models with navigation). Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 10.

10. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and audio unit connector B (14P) according to the table.






Is there continuity?

YES - Substitute a known-good XM receiver, then reconnect all of the connectors and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original XM receiver. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio unit.

NO - Open in the wire(s) between XM receiver and audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
