Front Bumper: Service and Repair
Front Bumper Removal/Installation
NOTE:
- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the front bumper.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the front bumper or the body.
- When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.
1. Disconnect the outside temperature sensor connector (A) from under the front bumper (B).
2. Remove these items:
- Front bulkhead cover Service and Repair
- Front air guide plate Service and Repair
- Front strakes, both sides Front Strake Replacement
3. Remove the bolts (A, B), the screws (C), and the clips (D) securing the front bumper (E).
NOTE: To release the clips, pry up on the center pin at the notch (F).
4. Pull out the front bumper (A) at the wheel arch areas to release it from the hooks (B) on the side spacers (C).
5. With the help of an assistant, pull both sides of the front bumper (A) away from the side spacers (B). Then pull out the bumper to release the hooks (C) from the upper beams (D).
6. Hold up the bumper (A), and detach the harness clips (B). Disconnect the front turn signal connectors (C), the fog light connectors (D), and, the headlight washer tube (E) (for some models). Release the projection (F) from the bulkhead (G), then remove the bumper.
7. Install the bumper in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Make sure the each connector is plugged in properly.
- For some models: Make sure the headlight washer tube is connected properly.
- Make sure the front bumper engages the hooks (on the upper beam and the side spacers) on each side securely.
- Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.
