Audio unit power switch will not turn on (No information display and no sound) (without navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

2. Push the VOLUME/POWER () knob on to see if the audio unit turns on.

Does the audio unit display operate properly, and does the audio unit sound normal?

YES -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.�

NO -

Go to step 3.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

4. Check the No. 15 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the No. 18 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.

Are the fuses OK?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Replace the fuse(s), and recheck.�

5. Remove the audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation. Check that the audio unit connectors are properly connected.

Are the connectors properly connected?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Repair poor connections and reconnect the connectors, and recheck the function.�

6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

7. Measure the voltage between body ground and audio unit connector A (24P) terminals No. 14 and No. 24 individually.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire(s) between No. 15(10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, the No. 18(7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the audio unit.�

8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

9. Measure the voltage between audio unit connector A (24P) terminal No. 12 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between audio unit connector A (24P) terminal No. 12 and body ground (G502).�

10. Measure the voltage between body ground and audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminals No. 1 and No. 20 individually.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 11.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire(s) between the No. 15 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and/or the No. 18 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the audio and HVAC switch panel.�

11. Measure the voltage between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 3 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 12.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 3 and body ground (G501).�

12. Measure the voltage between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 5 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 13.

NO -

Repair an open or a short in the wire between the audio and HVAC switch panel and the audio unit.�

13. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

14. Disconnect audio unit connector F (12P) and audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P).

15. Check for continuity between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 17 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the audio and HVAC switch panel and the audio unit.�

NO -

Go to step 16.

16. Check for continuity between audio unit connector F (12P) terminal No. 12 and audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 17.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 17.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the audio and HVAC switch panel and the audio unit.�

17. Reconnect audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P).

18. Check for continuity between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 17 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Replace the audio and HVAC switch panel Audio and HVAC Switch Panel Removal/Installation.�

NO -

Go to step 19.

19. While press and holding the VOLUME/POWER () knob, check for continuity between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 17 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 20.

NO -

Replace the audio and HVAC switch panel Audio and HVAC Switch Panel Removal/Installation.�

20. Reconnect audio unit connector F (12P).

21. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

22. While repeating ON and OFF of the VOLUME/POWER () knob, measure the voltage between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 19 and body ground.





Does the voltage change from 0 V to 12 V?

YES -

Replace the audio and HVAC switch panel Audio and HVAC Switch Panel Removal/Installation.�

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between audio unit connector B (24P) terminal No. 21 and audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 19. If the wire and the pin fits are OK, substitute a known-good audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.�
