Rear Differential Installation




Rear Differential Installation

1. Place the rear differential on a transmission jack.

2. Install new set rings (A) into the groove (B) of the rear differential.






3. Raise the rear differential to the appropriate position on the transmission jack.

4. Connect the ground cable (A) to the rear differential.





5. Connect the left solenoid 4P connector (B), then install the harness clips (C).

6. Raise the rear differential a little on the transmission jack.

7. Connect the breather hose (A) to the breather pipe (B).





8. Connect the right solenoid 4P connector (C) and the rear differential fluid temperature sensor 2P connector (D), then install the clips (E).

9. Raise the rear differential to the mounting level.

10. Temporarily install the rear differential front mounting bracket bolts (A).





11. Loosen the rear differential front mounting bolts (B).

12. Install the new rear differential rear mount bolts (C and D) and tighten them to the specified torque in the sequence shown.

13. Replace the rear differential front mounting bolts and tighten them to the specified torque.

14. Tighten the rear differential front mounting bracket bolts to the specified torque.

15. Attach the No. 2 propeller shaft (A) to the rear differential companion flange (B) by aligning the reference mark (C) you made during the removal procedure.





16. Apply appropriate grease to the rear driveshaft inboard joints Rear Driveshaft Installation.

17. Pull the knuckle outward, and insert the rear driveshaft inboard joints (A) into the rear differential (B).






18. Loosely install the new lower arm A mounting bolts (A) and the new lower arm B mounting bolts (B).





19. Place a floor jack under the lower arm, and raise the suspension to load it with the vehicle's weight.

20. Tighten the lower arm A mounting bolts and the lower arm B mounting bolts to the specified torque, then remove the floor jack.

21. Install the rear wheels.

22. Install the spare tire.

23. Refill the rear differential with the recommended fluid Rear Differential Fluid Inspection And Replacement.

24. Check the wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary Service and Repair.

25. Test-drive the vehicle.
