Basic Setting (Function 04)

Automatic climate control

Test condition

- All fuses must be OK, per wiring diagram
- Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, eliminate and erase any stored malfunctions.

- Press buttons -0- and -1- to select display group 001.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

Numbers displayed may be different and are shown for examples only.

System in basic setting 1 ->

The following components will be triggered and their final position stored:
- Display field 1 - temperature regulator flap motor -V68-
- Display field 2 - central air flap motor -V70-
- Display field 3 - footwell/defroster flap motor -V85-


NOTE: The 4th display field is not used. This field applies to air flow flap motor -V71- which is not installed in USA/Canada vehicles.


- Wait until display appears as shown.

System in basic setting 1 ->

- Press -> button

- Press buttons -0- and -2- to select "Check DTC Memory" function 02.

- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

Number of stored malfunctions is displayed

X DTC recognized ->

- Press -> button.
- Stored malfunctions are displayed and printed out one after another.

The following malfunctions will be recognized:
- "Back Press.Flap Motor Pos.Sensor-G113 Open/Short circuit to B+/SP"
- "Back Press.Flap Motor Pos.Sensor-G113 Adaptation limit exceeded"
(Also on vehicles with 2.8 liter V6)
- A/C Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor-G110 Open/Short circuit to B+/SP"


NOTE:
- These components are NOT installed in USA/Canada vehicles and will always be identified as malfunctions.
- A/C engine coolant temperature sensor -G110- is not installed on vehicles equipped with 2.8 liter V6 engine (100/A6).


If any additional DTCs are displayed eliminate/repair malfunctions, DTC table, then perform "Basic Setting" once again.

After display/printing any malfunctions:
- Press -> button.

- Press buttons -0- and -5- to select "Erase DTC Memory" function 05.

- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

If this message is displayed:

Attention! ->
DTC Memory is not interrogated


- Check DTC memory, following sequence exactly.


NOTE: If ignition was switched OFF or if engine exceeded 4000 RPM between checking DTC memory and erasing, DTC memory will NOT be erased.


Indicated on display, if DTC memory is successfully erased

Rapid data transfer ->
DTC memory is erased



NOTE: By erasing the DTC memory, malfunctions for the following unused components will be re-stored and displayed when basic setting is selected again:
- Back Press. Flap Motor Pos.Sensor-G113 Open/Short circuit to B+/SP"
- Back Press. Flap Motor Pos.Sensor-G113 Adaptation limit exceeded"
(Also on vehicles with 2.8 liter V6)
- A/C Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor-G110 Open/Short circuit to B+/SP"


- Press -> button.

- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
This function ends data flow between A/C control head -E87- and VAG 1551 scan tool.

NOTE: If measuring value block is to be read as the next text step, run A/C and switch fresh air blower to highest speed for 1 minute before inserting address word O8 again.
