DTC 00293 Multi-function switch

- Check adjustment of selector lever

- Check reverse light switch. Refer to test for DTC 00789.

- Switch off ignition.

- Remove multi-function switch connector.

- Check wiring between contacts of 8-pin connector and sockets of VAG 1598 using DVOM

Plug contact VAG Socket

^ Must be 0 - 0.5 Ohms


- Repair open circuit according to wiring diagram if one of these specified values is not reached.


- Check wiring to connector contacts 1 and 8 according to wiring diagram

- Adjust multi-function switch if no open circuit is found. Refer to Multi-Function Switch.

Note: When connecting the connector to the multi-function switch, do not damage the locking lugs of the connector.

Selector Linkage:

- When the connector is connected, close lock completely (press upwards [arrows]).
