Basic Setting (Function 04)




Basic Setting (function 04)
Basic setting must be performed after replacing a headlight, axle sensor or the control module. Observe the following:
- Vehicle must be in a precisely defined load condition.


NOTE: Current specified values and procedures For load condition can be found in the Repair Manual "Maintenance ".


- Rock vehicle (move bumpers up and down several times, allowing vehicle to come to a rest on its own).

Test sequence
- Initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD) of automatic vertical headlight aim control, Initiating


Display on VAS5051:







- In selection -1-, click on the diagnostic function "04 - Basic setting".


Display on VAS5051:







1 - Enter display group Max. input value = 255
- Select function "001" in button field -2- For "Display group number 001" and press Q button to confirm input.

Headlights are being moved to set position.


Display on VAS5051:







1 - Display group 1 System in basic setting
2 - Headlight Adjusting
Headlights are now in the set position.


NOTE: Basic setting 1 switches the adjustment mode off and enters "headlights not set" into memory.


- Adjust headlights using VAS5046 headlight adjustment tool.


Display on VAS5051:







- Press s button -3- to change into display group 002.

1 - Display group 2 System in basic setting
2 - Adjusted position adapted

The control module has now learned this position as the adjustment position.


NOTE: The entry in DTC memory ("Headlights not set") is erased and adjustment mode is re-initiated.


- End function "04 - Basic setting" by pressing <- button.
