Basic Setting (Function 04)

- With ignition switched off connect VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System with VAS 5051/1 diagnostic cable to 16-pin data link connector on vehicle and select address word "08 - A/C heater/electronics." Connecting VAS 5051 Tester

Requirements
- Check coding and correct if necessary (the current valid code will be shown in the Read Measuring Value Block). Measuring Value Blocks (Function 08) Code Control Module (Function 07)
- DTC memory checked, displayed malfunctions eliminated and DTC memory displayed. Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes Clearing Trouble Codes
- Air conditioning switched ON (operating mode "Econ" or "Auto").

- Select "Basic setting" function 04

- Display field -1- indicates request to input display group.
- Display field -2- shows input keyboard.

- Input "01" or "001" in display field -2- for "display group number 001" and accept by pressing the -Q- button.

The following positioning motors are now activated and the current feedback value will be shown in display field 1. Currently the positioning motors are assigned as follows:
1 - place:
Actuator for temperature flap left -V158-
2 - place:
Actuator for temperature flap right -V159-

3 - place:
Defroster Flap Motor -V107-
4 - place:
Central Air Flap Motor -V70-
5 - place:
Air Flow Flap Motor -V71-
6 - place:
Recirculation Flap Motor -V113-

The end positions of the positioning motors (resistance values at stop) are stored in the A/C control head -E87- (resistance value in potentiometer implemented in positioning motor) and utilized for additional controls.

After the positioning motors reached both limit stops, they are moved one more time from stop to stop. The adjustment time is measured during that move and stored in the A/C control head -E87-, in case an emergency mode is necessary at one time.

The movement of the positioning motors can be monitored in display field -1- (the feed back values in display field 1 - 6 change).

Wait until display "0" for the displayed feed back values in display field -1-are shown.

NOTE:
- The basic setting is ended when "0" appears on the display.
- By clicking the <- button you will return to the selection menu.
- If a malfunction has been detected on one potentiometer during the Basic setting, a substitute value is stored as an adaptation value (learning value for this potentiometer) and is displayed in the respective measuring value block. The malfunction "Adaptation limit exceeded" is stored for this positioning motor.
- When initiating the Basic setting, the from the CAN-bus comfort system transmitted temperature unit is read and ( degrees F or degrees C) which is adjusted in the instrument cluster is accepted. The display on the A/C control head -E87- can be changed by simultaneously pressing the recirculated air button and the temperature + for left side button for more than 2 seconds.







- You can switch to another display group by touching button -2-.
- You can switch to another function (e.g. from "Basic setting to "Read Measuring Value Block" and back) by touching button -3-.


- Check DTC memory. Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes
- Erase DTC according to DTC table, after the last DTC has been displayed and printed. Heating and Air Conditioning

NOTE: Carry out the Basic Setting again in case a malfunction (DTC) was recognized and eliminated.
