Oil Pan
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782 )
• Protective glasses
Removing
CAUTION!
Do not run engine or tow vehicle with oil pan removed or when there is no ATF in the transmission.
• General repair notes. Refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.
• Observe cleanliness rules when working on automatic transmissions. Refer to => [ Cleanliness Working Conditions ] Cleanliness Working Conditions.
- Remove noise insulation - arrows -.
- Place Used Oil Collection and Extraction Device ( V.A.G 1782) under transmission.
CAUTION!
Wear protective glasses.
- Remove ATF drain plug - 1 -.
- Drain ATF.
• Observe disposal regulations.
- Remove oil pan bolts - arrow - diagonally and remove oil pan.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
• Replace gaskets and oil seals.
- Clean all magnets in the depressions of the oil pan. Ensure that the magnets are in full contact with the oil pan.
- Thoroughly clean the sealing surface, removing the residual gasket material completely.
- Tighten oil pan bolts - arrow - diagonally in several stages.
- Tighten new drain plug - 1 -.
- Top off ATF. Refer to => [ ATF, Changing and Filling after a Repair ] ATF, Changing and Filling After a Repair.
