Right Cylinder Head, Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Polydrive Bit And Drive Socket (T10070)

Work procedure

Engine installed.

All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.

- Remove intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.

Place a rag under hydraulic pressure line to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.





- Disconnect power steering pressure line from power steering pump, cylinder head and rear coolant pipe - arrows -.

- Lay pressure line aside.

- Disconnect electrical connector to Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (G40) - 1 - and to Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 3 (G300) - 2 -.





- Remove toothed belt. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] Service and Repair.

- Remove camshaft gears from right cylinder head.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and remove bracket with idler roller.





- Remove bolts - 2 - and remove right rear toothed belt guard.

- Remove bolts - 3 - and remove Secondary Air Injection (AIR) combi-valve with flange from cylinder head.





- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - on rear coolant pipe on cylinder head.

Coolant pipe remains installed.

To improve clarity, shown with the engine removed.

- Remove nut - 2 - from right exhaust pipe/exhaust manifold threaded connection which is accessible from top.





To improve clarity, shown with the engine removed.

- Remove front crossmember by removing screws - 1 to 4 -.





Flex joint in front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise it may be damaged.





- Disconnect exhaust system at right double clamp - right arrow -.

- Remove nuts - 1 - and - 3 - of right exhaust pipe/exhaust manifold threaded connection, which are accessible from bottom.





To improve clarity, shown with the engine removed.

- Disconnect front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.

All:

- Loosen cylinder head bolts in the sequence - 1to8 -.





- Carefully remove cylinder head.
