Shift Rod Seal
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Sealing ring installer (3385)
• Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80-200)
Removing
- Removing left transmission support. Refer to => [ Transmission Mounts ] 01VA Transmission.
- Removing Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch (F125). Refer to => [ Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch ] Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch.
- Pry off selector lever cable from lever/shift rod - arrow -.
- Drive out spring dowel sleeve - 1 - at lever/shift rod - 2 - in direction of travel toward the front - arrow -, until the lever/shift rod can be pulled off the shift rod.
- Pierce sealing ring using a small screwdriver and pull out.
Installing
- Coat outer circumference and gap between sealing lips with ATF.
• Installation position: The open side of the sealing ring faces the transmission.
- Slide new sealing ring onto sealing ring installer (3385) without canting and drive in up to stop of pressure piece.
- Installing Multi-function switch. Refer to => [ Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch ] Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch.
- Drive back spring dowel sleeve with transmission not yet removed in opposite direction through the lever.
- Slide transmission shift lever onto shift rod and drive in spring dowel sleeve.
- Push lever/selector shaft - 2 - on transmission fully forward (on illustration fully left).
- Shift selector lever into "S" and carefully press up ball head of selector lever cable - 1 - on lever/shift rod - 2 - using a pair of pliers.
• Do not deform lever/shift rod when pressing up or else shifting cannot be precisely adjusted any more.
- Rotate multi-function switch - 3 - until the alignment bore - 4 - at switch housing can be fitted on the alignment pin - 2 - at transmission housing.
- Installing left transmission support. Refer to => [ Transmission Mounts ] 01VA Transmission.
