Gear Oil Level in Transfer Case, Checking and Correcting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782 )

• Protective glasses

Procedure

• General repair notes. Refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.

• Observe cleanliness rules when working on automatic transmissions. Refer to => [ Cleanliness Working Conditions ] Cleanliness Working Conditions.

- Move the vehicle onto a lifting platform or over a work pit so that it is absolutely level.

- Place Used Oil Collection and Extraction Device ( V.A.G 1782) under transmission.

CAUTION!
Wear protective glasses.

- Remove oil filler hole sealing plug - arrow B -.





• If the oil filler hole sealing plug is not accessible enough, loosen or remove corresponding parts of the exhaust system.

• The fluid level must be at the bottom edge of the inspection opening.

- If necessary, top off axle oil; specification. Refer to => [ ATF Level In Planetary Gearing, Checking and Correcting ] ATF Level In Planetary Gearing, Checking and Correcting.

• Sealing plug with sealing ring must be replaced.

- Install new oil filler hole sealing plug.
