Center Differential Gear Oil, Checking and Filling

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Drip tray (VAG1306)

Procedure

- Drive vehicle onto a 4-column lift or over a work pit.

• The vehicle must be on a level surface.

- If necessary, loosen or remove relevant parts of the exhaust system to gain access to oil filler plug - arrow B -.





- Place drip tray (VAG1306) underneath.

- Remove oil filler plug - arrow B -.

Oil level is correct when the final drive is filled up to lower edge of oil filler hole.

- Let excessive gear oil drain or top up gear oil. Refer to => [ Center Differential Gear Oil, Changing or Filling ] Center Differential Gear Oil, Changing or Filling.

- Always replace oil filler plug.

- Thread in new oil filler plug and tighten to 35 Nm.

- Secure or reinstall exhaust system free of stress.
