When removing, hood must be removed or propped up securely.

Remove the bolts - 4 - and nuts - 2 -.

5 - Gas Strut

Venting gas => [ Gas Strut, Venting ].

When removing or installing the gas-filled strut, push back the opened rear lid only slightly so as to avoid damaging components.

Removal:

Using a screwdriver, lift securing springs slightly at both ends in succession and pull off gas-filled strut from ball studs.

Installing:

Install with tube end of strut at rear lid.

Clip in gas-filled strut at bottom first, then at top.

Right Lid Hinge

In vehicles without rear lid drive motor, mounting bracket is secured with an additional bolt.

Only installed in vehicles without electric rear lid drive motor.

5 - Mounting Bracket

Gas Strut, Venting





- Clamp area - x - of the gas strut in the vise, area - x - = 50 mm.

- Using saw, cut into cylindrical part of strut at point within first third of cylinder's length (measured from cover edge at piston rod end of cylinder).

CAUTION!
Clamp only within this area, otherwise accident could occur!

Always wear eye protection when sawing. Also, place a cloth over the area to absorb any oil squirting out.

Cable Guide





- Slide cable guide onto hinge as shown and press into bracket at rear.

- Electrical wire to rear lid.

Lock Cylinder Mount





- Rear lid trim removed.

- To remove lock cylinder - 1 -, remove bolts - 2 -, disengage cable - 3 - and remove mount for lock cylinder from rear lid.
