Mounting Bracket, Upper Control Arms and Air Spring Damper Assembly Overview





1 Bolt, 50 Nm + 90° additional turn

Always replace.

2 Washer

3 Bolt, 40 Nm + 90° additional turn

Always replace.

Follow the tightening sequence => [ Tightening Sequence ] Air Spring Damper.

Tower brace removing and installing. Refer to => [ Tower Brace ] Service and Repair.

4 Nut, 23 Nm

Always replace.

5 Mounting Bracket

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Front Suspension.

6 Self Locking Nut

Always replace.

7 Upper Front Control Arm

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Upper Control Arm ] Front Upper Control Arm.

Bushing replacing, refer to => [ Upper Control Arm Bushing ] Upper Control Arm Bushing.

8 Upper Rear Control Arm

Can only be removed together with the mounting bracket.

Mounting bracket removing and installing. Refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Front Suspension.

Bushing replacing, refer to => [ Upper Control Arm Bushing ] Upper Control Arm Bushing.

9 Self Locking Nut

Always replace.

There are different version of the self locking nut

10 Washer

Not installed on armored vehicles

11 Bolt, 50 Nm

Not on armored vehicles, there are different bolt versions

12 Bolt, 50 Nm + 180° additional turn

Always replace.

Used on armored vehicles, there are different bolt versions

The additional angle must be performed in steps.

Coat the bolt and the hole in the wheel bearing housing with grease before installing.

13 Wheel Bearing Housing

Wheel bearing housing removing and installing. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Removal and Replacement.

14 Connecting Link

Right and left are the same.

Installed position, refer to => [ Connecting Link Installed Position ] Subframe, Engine Carrier and Stabilizer Bar Assembly Overview.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Connecting Link ] Front Suspension.

15 Self Locking Nut, 40 Nm + 90° additional turn

Always replace.

Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.

16 Bolt, 40 Nm + 90° additional turn

Always replace.

Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.

17 Stabilizer Bar

With cast rubber bushings and clamps.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Stabilizer Bar ] Stabilizer Bar.

Note the different suspension versions. Refer to => [ PR Number Explanations ] Application and ID.

18 Track Control Arm

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Track Control Arm ] Track Control Arm.

Bushing replacing, refer to => [ Track Control Arm Bushing ] Track Control Arm Bushing.

19 Bolt, 90 Nm + 90° additional turn

Always replace.

Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.

20 Self Locking Nut

Always replace.

21 Bolt

Always replace.

22 Air Line

Colors: front left - red; front right - green.

Air line, servicing. Refer to => [ Air Line, Servicing ] Pneumatic Level Control System.

Replace the connector piece if leaking. Refer to => [ Connector Piece, Replacing ] Pneumatic Level Control System.

23 Connector Piece, 3 Nm

Always observe the tightening specification!

Only remove if the vehicle is raised and the air spring damper is unloaded (otherwise, there is a risk of injury from lowering vehicle).

Replace the air line. Refer to => [ Air Line, Servicing ] Pneumatic Level Control System, or replace the connector piece, refer to => [ Connector Piece, Replacing ] Pneumatic Level Control System, if leaking.

Clean the connection before loosening.

Air escapes when the connection is loosened.

Protect the threaded connection from dirt.

24 Air Spring Damper

With grommet on the strut tower.

The boot must not have any pressure points. Correct them as necessary. Refer to => [ Air Spring Damper Boot, Correcting Pressure Points ] Front Suspension.

25 Residual Pressure Retaining Valve

Do not loosen.
