Console Lamp: Service and Repair






Lamps and Switches in Center Console

Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.

Front Center Console Lamp

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Special hook (3370)

Removing





- Carefully detach front center console lamp - 1 - using (3370).

- Unplug connector.

Installing

Install in reverse order.

Entire front center console lamp must be replaced if faulty.

Access/Start Authorization Button or Driver Identification Control Module

Removing

- If the control module was replaced, select the "Replace" function for the respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding" or "Guided Functions" with the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B).

- Select the function or path:






- Follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnosis Tester display.

- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.





- Remove the front ashtray insert - 1 -, press button - arrow - to do so.

- Remove the bolt - arrow - and remove front ashtray housing.





- Unplug connector.

- Pull off center console switch panel upward - arrows -.





- Unplug connectors.

- Remove bolt - 3 -.





- Remove the locking pin - 1 - - arrow -, if equipped.

- Remove the access/start authorization button or driver identification control module - 2 -.

Installing

Install in reverse order.

Front Seat Heating Switch

Front heated seat switches are integrated into Climatronic control module (J255) (may also be designated "front operating and display unit"). They cannot be replaced separately.

Rear Seat Heating Switch

Rear heated seat switches are only integrated into rear A/C control head (Climatronic) (E265). They cannot be replaced separately.

Removing





- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Remove rear ashtray.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and detach mounting frame with air vents.

- Unplug connectors.

- Detach trim - 3 - from mounting frame - arrows -.





- Unclip switches - 1 - and - 2 - from switch mount.

Installing

Install in reverse order.
