Intake Manifold Upper Section
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Spring-type clip pliers (VAS 5024 A)
Removing
• During installation, re-install all heat insulation sleeves at the same locations.
• All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.
- Carefully pull the engine cover at the rear and middle upward and off - arrows 1 -.
- Then, pull the engine cover forward and off from intake manifold - arrows 2 -.
- Disconnect hose - 1 - from air duct hose.
- Remove left air duct hose - arrows -.
- Disconnect vacuum hose - arrow - to Leak Detection Pump (LDP) (V144) from intake manifold.
- Disconnect electrical connection - 7 - at throttle valve control module 2 (J544).
- Separate vacuum lines - 3 - and - 5 -.
- Pull off hoses - 2 - and - 6 - for the crankcase breather.
• Ignore - 1 - and - 4 -
- Separate electrical connector - 1 - for mass air flow (MAF) sensor (G70).
- Disconnect air duct hose - 4 - at intake manifold.
- Unhook retainer for connections - 2 - and - 3 - at upper part of air filter housing.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Remove upper part of right air filter housing.
- Disconnect electrical connection - 6 - at throttle valve control module (J338).
- Disconnect vacuum hose - 1 -.
- Pull off hoses for crankcase breather - 4 - and - 5 -.
• Ignore - 2 - and - 3 -.
- Pull off vacuum hose - 4 - from Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80).
• Ignore items - 1 to 3 -.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and remove intake manifold upper-section.
• Plug the intake ports of the cylinder head with clean rags.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
• Replace gaskets and O-rings.
• During installation, protective heat boots must be re-installed at the same location.
• Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.
• During installation, all cable ties must be re-installed at the same location.
Tightening Specifications
* Observe different bolt lengths.
* Replace bolts.
* 180° corresponds to a half turn.
