Telephone/Telematics Control Module
• The following procedure describes control module removal and installation only.
• If the control module is replaced, the OnStar(R) system needs to be configured and the emergency (backup) battery must be replaced.
• DO NOT exchange Telephone/Telematic Control Modules between vehicles! Each module contains specific Station Identification (STID) and Electronic Serial Number (ESN) data unique to the VIN. This data is used by OnStar(R) and National Cellular Telephone Network to identify the vehicle and administer the customer's account.
CAUTION!
• Switch off all electrical components.
• Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
Removing:
- Switch off Emergency Battery (Telematics) (A16 ) => [ Telematics Emergency Battery, Switching On/Off ] Procedures
- Remove A-pillar trim.
- Remove front passenger's seat.
• Seat belt need not be removed from seat frame.
- Pull back floor carpet..
- Release cover for electronics box - arrows - and remove.
- Open lid - 1 - of mounting box - 2 - in direction of - arrow -.
Avant only:
- Disconnect cable connection to Antenna Splitter ( R87).
- Disconnect electrical/antenna connections - 2 -, - 3 - and - 4 -.
- Remove control module - 1 - from mounting box.
Installing:
- Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following.
- If existing control module is reinstalled, switch on Emergency Battery (Telematics) (A16) => [ Telematics Emergency Battery, Switching On/Off ] Procedures
• Ensure correct seating and fit of electrical connections.
• Antenna connections (couplings) must be properly aligned and tight to ensure proper reception.
• If control module is replaced, replace Emergency Battery (Telematics) (A16) => [ Telematics Emergency Battery ] Telematics Emergency Battery and configure control module => [ Telephone/Telematics Control Module, Replacing ] Telephone/Telematics Control Module, Replacing
