Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair
Airbag Control Module
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051 A)
CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
1 Airbag Control Module
• Removal:
- Disconnect the battery ground (GND) strap.
- Remove center console => [ Center Console, through October 2004 ] Service and Repair.
- Position securing clip - 4 - on connector - 3 -.
- Remove connector - 3 - from control module - 1 -.
- Remove bolts - 2 - (Qty. 3).
- Remove control module.
• Installing:
To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.
• Follow safety measures after connecting battery.
• If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) ( K75) shows a malfunction after assembly, DTC memory must be checked with Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051 A), cleared and then rechecked.
• After replacing control module, it must be coded.
