Lateral Accelerometer: Service and Repair
Transverse Acceleration Sensor and Rotation Rate Sensor
• The Transverse Acceleration Sensor (G200) and Rotation Rate Sensor (G202) are combined in one housing. It is located on the front tunnel under the air conditioner.
Removing
- Remove the center console extension.
- Disconnect connector from transverse acceleration/rotation rate sensor.
- Remove two bolts - arrows -.
- Remove transverse acceleration/rotation rate sensor.
Installing
Strong vibrations can destroy the sensor for transverse acceleration/rotational rate.
- Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
When installing transverse acceleration/rotation rate sensor, ensure it is correctly seated in its mounting and is free of stress.
The transverse acceleration/rotation speed sensor should never be forced into position using the fastening bolts.
- Tighten bolts to 10 Nm.
- If control module is replaced, select "Replace" function for respective control module in Guided Fault Finding using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 505x).
