Primary Catalytic Converters






Primary Catalytic Converters

Removing

- On a vehicle with air suspension, activate vehicle lift mode.

During installation, all cable ties must be reinstalled at the same location.

- Disconnect vacuum hose - 1 -.





- Remove air guide pipe - arrows -.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 - on throttle valve control module (J338).





- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove throttle valve control module (J338).

Without Mechanical Vacuum Pump

- Remove vacuum lines on intake manifold as follows:





1 For EVAP canister, press release buttons
3 For brake booster, remove suction jet pump - arrow - from bracket and press release buttons
4 To Leak Detection Pump (LDP) (V144), press release buttons

Ignore - 2 -.

With Mechanical Vacuum Pump





- Remove vacuum lines on intake manifold as follows:

1 For EVAP canister, press release buttons
3 For brake booster

Ignore - 2 - - arrow -.

Continuation for All





- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove bracket.

- Remove bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove heat shield.

- Remove oxygen sensors

- Remove nuts on connection between primary catalytic converters and exhaust manifold - arrows -.





- Remove bolt and remove rear noise insulation - 2 -.





- Remove noise insulation bracket - arrows -.





- Remove bolts - 1 and 2 - on primary catalytic converter bracket.





- Remove front driveshaft heat shield - arrows -.





- Remove bolts on connection between driveshaft and final drive - A arrows - and lay driveshaft aside.





Risk of damaging decoupling elements.

Do not bend decoupling element in front exhaust pipe more than 10°.

- Remove primary catalytic converters from main catalytic converters - arrows -.





- Remove primary catalytic converters downward.

Installing

Tightening specifications => [ Catalytic Converters and Mufflers, Assembly Overview ] Catalytic Converters and Mufflers, Assembly Overview, => [ Exhaust Manifold, Assembly Overview ] Exhaust Manifold, Assembly Overview.

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace seals and self-locking nuts.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

During installation, all cable ties must be reinstalled at the same location.

- Fasten driveshaft on front final drive.

- Install driveshaft heat shield.

- Install oxygen sensors

- Install throttle valve control module (J338)

- Install exhaust system free of stress => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Service and Repair.

- On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode.
