Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Oxygen Sensors

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Ring spanner 7-piece set for oxygen sensor (3337)

Removing

- Remove affected electrical connector from bracket on right strut tower and disconnect.





1. To Oxygen Sensor (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130)

2. To Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39)

3. To Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 2 behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G131)

4. To Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 (G108)

- Free up electrical wiring to oxygen sensor.

- Remove affected oxygen sensor with open end wrench (3337/1) and (3337/2):





1. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 2 behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G131)

2. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 (G108)

3. Oxygen sensor (G39)

4. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130)

Installing

• Tightening specifications => [ Component Locations ] Locations.

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

• Threads on new oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste

• When reinstalling a used oxygen sensor, coat threads with hot bolt paste; hot bolt paste => Parts Catalog

• Assembly paste or hot bolt paste must not get on slits in sensor body.

• Electrical wire of oxygen sensor must always be secured in the same position when installing so that contact with the exhaust pipe is avoided.
