Shift Gate

Removing:

- Remove selector mechanism function unit => [ Selector Mechanism Unit ] Selector Mechanism Unit.

• Selector lever in "S" position.

- Unclip emergency release lever guide - 1 - at sides in direction of - arrow -.





- Disengage electrical line at selector mechanism - arrows A -.





- Pry off both bearing shells - 1 - with screwdriver.





- Remove securing plate - 2 - downward.

- Pry out both lower bearings - 1 - with a screwdriver.





- Carefully pull shift gate - 1 - down a little.





- If necessary, press emergency release lever - arrow - down so that shift gate can be removed.





- Pry out retaining pins - A - with a screwdriver.





- Remove microswitch - B -.

• The Transmission Park Selector Switch (F305) consists of two microswitch, microswitch - B - is one of them. The two microswitches create the signal that the electronic ignition key removal lock needs to release the key only in selector lever position P.

- Disengage electrical wiring from tab - arrow C - and remove microswitch from shift mechanism.

- Remove shift gate - 1 - downward.

Installing:

Install in reverse order of removal, note the following:

• Lubricate bearing areas and slide surfaces with polycarbamide grease (G 052 142 A2).

- Ensure stop buffer is seated correctly - 1 -.





- Guide shift gate - 1 - from below.





• Shift gate selector lever in "S" position (as shown in illustration).

- Insert microswitch - B - in shift gate and secure it with retaining pins - A -.

• Microswitch must lie flush on all sides.

- Engage electrical line in tab - arrow C -.

- Slide both axial bearings - 2 - onto shift gate - 1 -.

- Place both shift bearings - 3 - on shift gate.

- Slide shift gate into function unit housing. If necessary, press emergency release lever - arrow - down to guide shift gate in.





- Press in lower bearing - 1 - on both sides.





• Bearings - 1 - must engage in sockets - arrow - on shift bearing - A -.

- Press new securing plate - 2 - onto rear axial bearing.





• Installation position: Angled end of securing plate faces toward shift gate.

- Install both bearing shells - 1 -.

- Secure electrical line - arrow A - at selector mechanism according to illustration.





- Ensure microswitches - B - are seated correctly and securely.

• Ignition key removal lock does not function correctly if microswitch is not inserted correctly or properly secured.

- Install emergency release lever guide - 1 - in opposite direction of - arrow -.





- Install shift mechanism function unit => [ Selector Mechanism Unit ] Selector Mechanism Unit.
