Seat Pan, Disassembling and Assembling

Seat Pan, Disassembling and Assembling

There are different upper seat frames: with and without a seat depth adjuster. Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

A seat pan without seat depth adjuster is used for describing taking the seat pan apart and putting it back together. The procedure is similar for taking a seat pan that has a seat depth adjuster apart and putting it back together.

When removing the seat pan, make sure the bushings in the bearing points (upper and lower frame threaded connection) are not damaged. These bushing cannot be replaced with workshop materials.

The upper and lower frames of the seat pan cannot be separated on the following front seats: manual standard seat and manual sport seat.

The upper and lower seat pan frames can be separated from each other and replaced individually on the following front seats: power Standard seat, power Sport seat, Comfort seat and Super Sport seat.

Seat Pan, Disassembling:

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Move the front seat as far up as possible to keep the torsion bar tension as low as possible.

- Remove the front seat:

Standard and sport power seat, comfort seat and super sport seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.

- Remove the front backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest Front ] Backrest Front.

- Remove the seat pan upholstery.

Power standard seat and comfort seat. Refer to => [ Cover and Padding, Lower Seat Frame without Seat Depth Adjuster ] Cover and Padding, Lower Seat Frame Without Seat Depth Adjuster.

Power sport seat. Refer to => [ Cover and Padding, Lower Seat Frame with Seat Depth Adjuster ] Cover and Padding, Lower Seat Frame With Seat Depth Adjuster.

Upper and Lower Frames, Separating

- Disconnect the electrical connector on the seat forward/back adjustment motor.

- Remove the torsion bar. Refer to => [ Torsion Bar ] Torsion Bar.

- Remove bolts - 2 - (quantity: 4).

- Remove the screw - 3 -.

- Remove the upper frame - 1 - upward from the lower frame - 4 -.

- Be careful of bushings - 1 - in the bearing locations on seat pan lower frame - 2 -.

Do not damage bushings - 1 - inserted in all bearing points when separating or disassembling upper and lower frame.

The bushings cannot be replaced with workshop materials.

If the bushings are damaged, replace the corresponding components.

Upper Seat Frame, Replacing

If the upper frame will be replaced, remove the wires and electrical and electronic components listed and install them in the new upper frame.

- Separate the upper and lower frames.

- Remove the bracket with the memory seat adjustment control module. Refer to => [ Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module Bracket ] Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module Bracket and => [ Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module ] Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module.

- Remove the seat height adjustment motor. Refer to => [ Height Adjustment Motor ] Height Adjustment Motor.

- Remove the seat angle adjustment motor. Refer to => [ Seat Angle Adjustment Motor ] Seat Angle Adjustment Motor.

- Remove the seat position sensor. Refer to:

=> [ Seat Position Sensor, with Seat Occupied Sensor for Belt Fastening Detection ] Seat Position Sensor, With Seat Occupied Sensor For Belt Fastening Detection.

=> [ Seat Position Sensor, with Seat Occupied Sensor for Passenger Airbag Deactivation ] Seat Position Sensor, With Seat Occupied Sensor For Passenger Airbag Deactivation.

- Remove wiring harnesses and individual wires from seat pan upper frame.

- Install the removed electrical and electronic components and wires in the new upper frame.

Install in reverse order of removal.

Lower Frame, Replacing

If the lower frame will be replaced, remove the seat position sensor and install it in the new lower frame.

- Separate the upper and lower frames.

- Remove the seat position sensor. Refer to:

=> [ Seat Position Sensor, with Seat Occupied Sensor for Belt Fastening Detection ] Seat Position Sensor, With Seat Occupied Sensor For Belt Fastening Detection.

=> [ Seat Position Sensor, with Seat Occupied Sensor for Passenger Airbag Deactivation ] Seat Position Sensor, With Seat Occupied Sensor For Passenger Airbag Deactivation.

- Disconnect the electrical connector on the seat forward/back adjustment motor.

- Install the removed electrical and electronic components and wires in the new lower frame.

Seat Pan, Assembling

Assembly of the seat pan is performed in the reverse order of removal. When doing so, note the following:

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
