Front Final Drive Gear Oil Level Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Oil collecting and extracting device (VAG 1782)

• Protective glasses

Test Conditions

• Gear oil temperature at approximately 20 °C (room temperature).

Test Sequence

- To ensure vehicle is absolutely level, use a 4 post hoist or a service pit.

- Place the used oil collection and extraction device (VAG 1782) under the transmission.

CAUTION!
Wear protective glasses.

- Remove the inspection plug - arrow -.





• The fluid level must be at the bottom edge of the inspection plug opening.

- Drain off excess gear oil or top off to the proper level.

• Inspection plug with seal must be replaced.

- Tighten the inspection plug to 35 Nm.
