Selector Lever Cable Adjusting, from 12.05

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Socket and key (T40031)

Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B)

Procedure





- Unclip the mounting frame for the selector lever boot - 1 - from the center console and lift it upward and off - arrows -.

- Place the selector lever in the "D" position.





- Through the opening - arrow - in the shift mechanism, loosen the bolt on the selector lever cable approximately one turn using the socket and key (T40031).

Loosen the clamping screw approximately one turn , do not remove completely.

The clamping screw is only accessible in selector lever position "D".

The selector lever must remain in the "D" position while the clamping screw is loose.

Leave the socket and key (T40031) mounted on the clamping screw.

- Carefully move the selector lever lightly toward the front and rear without shifting into another selector lever position, this releases the tension on the selector lever cable.

- Move the selector lever into the "Tiptronic gate".

Do not touch the selector lever during the adjustment.

- Without touching the selector lever, tighten the clamping screw in this position using the socket and key (T40031). For tightening specification, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Assembly Overview ] Selector Lever Cable Assembly Overview.

- Check the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Checking ] Procedures.

Compare the position of the multi function switch (F125) with the position of the selector lever by using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B) in "On Board Diagnostic (OBD)" under 02 - Transmission Electronics / 011 - Measured Values / Display Group 2 in display field - 1 -.





If the shift mechanism does not function properly after adjusting the selector lever cable, bring the selector lever cable into basic setting. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Bringing into Basic Setting ] Selector Lever Cable, Bringing into Basic Setting.
