Selector Mechanism Function Unit

Removing

- Loosen quick-release connectors - 2 - and remove rear noise insulation.





- Remove nuts - arrows - and slide shift mechanism heat shield back.





Shown with driveshaft removed in illustration.

- Remove bolt - 1 -.





- Pry out lock washers - 2 - and remove noise insulation.

Shown with driveshaft removed in illustration.

- Remove selector lever handle => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.

- Remove cover for shift mechanism => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.

- Disconnect electrical connector for Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) and Transmission Park Selector Switch (F305).

- Pry manual release Bowden cable - 1 - out from bracket - 2 -.





- Remove bolts - 4 -.

Disregard - 3 -.

- Carefully pull shift mechanism function unit up slightly.

- At the same time, guide manual release actuator mechanism - A - and selector lever cable - B - out of shift mechanism function unit.





Ignore - item D -.

If necessary, unclip the selector lever cable boot from the function unit cover.

- Loosen selector lever cable locking screw - arrow - with Torx 25 socket.

- Remove selector lever cable securing plate - C - on shift mechanism function unit forward.

- Remove shift mechanism unit forward while removing selector lever cable.

Take care not to bend or kink selector lever cable.

Installing

Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:

Shift selector lever and selector shaft lever into "D" position.

- Guide selector lever cable - B - into locking fastener hole - arrow -.





- Attach selector lever cable securing plate - C - to shift mechanism function unit.

Installation position: The angled end of the securing plate faces upward.

- Make sure the selector lever cable rubber boot is engaged correctly and does not leak.

- Carefully guide the selector mechanism function unit into the unit cover. Be careful of the emergency release.

Route release cable under the right angled bracket - D -.

- Adjust selector lever cable => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting ] Procedures.

To align shift mechanism to center console switch trim, nuts - 3 - for side distance or bolts - 4 - for height adjustment must be loosened.





Ignore - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Install cover for shift mechanism => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.

- Install front ashtray.

- Install selector lever handle => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.

- Check shift mechanism => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] Procedures.
