Safety Precautions

Safety Precautions

CAUTION!
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

For reasons of safety, you must first remove both relays for electric fuel pumps => [ ] and => [ ] from the relay plate before opening the fuel system. Otherwise, the fuel pumps could activate when you open the driver's door.

Route all the various lines (e.g. for fuel, hydraulics, EVAP system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum lines and hoses) and electrical wiring so that the original positions are restored.

Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

Fuel system is under pressure! Before loosening hose connections or separating points, place rags around the connection point. Then release pressure by carefully opening the fuel supply system.

The fuel or fuel lines in fuel system can become very hot (danger of scalding)!

Wear protective goggles and protective gloves when working on the fuel system!

Before starting work, switch on exhaust extraction system and place an extraction hose close to the sensor installation opening of fuel tank to extract escaping fuel fumes. If no exhaust extraction system is available, a radial fan (as long as motor is not in air flow) with a displacement greater than 15 m3/h can be used.

Prevent fuel from contacting skin! Wear fuel-resistant gloves!

If the engine is to be turned at starter speed, without starting: Pull fuses 29 and 30 for fuel injectors 1 to 12 out of the fuse holder in the right side of the instrument panel: installation location, see:

All mechanical procedures and exploded view illustrations with torque specifications are in the Repair Information.

Place lighters, as well as lighters of others in the area, out of reach. The lighter can ignite fuel vapors.

CAUTION!
Observe procedures for disconnecting battery, refer to Repair Information.
