ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair

Draining ATF

The engine is switched off.

Move vehicle onto a four-pillar lifting platform or over a work pit so that it stands absolutely horizontal.

Selector lever in "P".

The parking brake button should be activated to close the electromechanical parking brake.

- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -. Refer to => Body Exterior 66 Description and Operation.





- Place Used Oil Collection and Extraction Device (V.A.G 1782) under transmission.

CAUTION!
Danger of eye injury.

Wear protective goggles!

- Remove ATF drain plug - arrow - and drain the ATF.





CAUTION!
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.

Do not start the engine when there is no ATF in the transmission.

Follow the disposal requirements.

Replace the ATF drain plug seal.

- Tighten the ATF drain plug.

Filling transmission with ATF

CAUTION!
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.

Only use replacement part ATF for the DSG transmission 0B5.

Other oils can cause malfunctions or transmission failure.

Note allocation.

The ATF filler tool must be clean and the ATF must not be mixed with any other oils.

- Fill the ATF Filler Tool (V.A.G 1924) with ATF for the DSG transmission 0B5; ATF specification.

- Secure reservoir of ATF Filler Tool (V.A.G 1924) as high as possible on vehicle.





CAUTION!
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.

Engine must not be started if only a small amount or no ATF is in the transmission after repair work or after significant ATF loss.

- Remove ATF inspection plug - arrow -.





- Engage the filler hook from the ATF Filler Tool (V.A.G 1924) into the ATF inspection opening.

- Add ATF using ATF Filler Tool (V.A.G 1924) until ATF drips from the inspection opening.

- Place selector lever in position "P".

- Start engine and switch off again after 20 seconds.

- Once more, add ATF using ATF Filler Tool (V.A.G 1924) until ATF drips from the inspection opening.

- Start the engine and let it run in idle.

- Continue adding ATF using ATF Filler Tool (V.A.G 1924) until ATF drips from the inspection opening again.

- Check ATF level and top off. Refer to => [ ATF, Checking Level and Correcting ] Procedures.

Observe all notes and test requirements as for "Checking ATF level".

- Install the noise insulation. Refer to => Body Exterior 66 Description and Operation.
