Input Shaft Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pulling Hook (T20143/2)

• Press Sleeve (T40198/1) with Guide Sleeve (T40198/2)

• Sealing Grease (G 052 128 A1)

Procedure

• The transmission is secured on the Engine and Transmission Holder (VAS 6095). Refer to => [ Transmission, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder ] Transmission, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder.

- Remove the dual mass flywheel. Refer to => [ Dual Mass Flywheel ] Dual Mass Flywheel.

- Pry out the input shaft seal using the Pulling Hook (T20143/2).





- Mount the Guide Sleeve (T40198/1) on the input shaft.





- Lightly oil outer circumference of new shaft seal.

- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with Sealing Grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Mount the shaft seal on the guide sleeve.

• Installation position: Open side of shaft seal faces transmission.

- Install the shaft seal with the Pressure Sleeve (T40198) all the way. Be careful not to bend it.





- Install dual mass flywheel. Refer to => [ Dual Mass Flywheel ] Dual Mass Flywheel.
