Shift Lock Solenoid

Removing

- Place selector lever in position "P".

- Remove front ashtray.





- Loosen the nuts - 1, 3, 5 and 6 - several turns but do not remove them completely.





This lowers the shift mechanism function unit slightly for better accessibility.

CAUTION!
The shift mechanism can be destroyed by broken retaining clips, tabs or other objects.

Make sure no components or other objects fall into the shift mechanism. The shift mechanism must be replaced if that happens.

- Release the retaining tabs - 2 - and - 3 - in direction of - arrow - and raise the front of the cover - A - slightly and hold it in that position.





This prevents the retaining tabs from engaging again.

- Using a screwdriver, release the upper retaining tab - 1 - on the cover in direction of - arrow - over the bracket - B - and remove the cover - A - upward.

- Disconnect electrical connector on the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110).





- Push hook - A - in direction of - arrow - and hold it.

Replace the shift mechanism function unit if a retaining hook - A - is broken off.

- Tip Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) down and out in direction of - arrow - so the ball head - 1 - disengages from the operating lever on the shift mechanism.





- Remove Shift Lock Solenoid (N110).

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Tightening specification. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Assembly Overview ] Selector Mechanism Assembly Overview.

- Rotate the ball head - 1 - into the correct installation position.

- Guide the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) diagonally from above into the shift mechanism and tilt the bottom opposite direction of - arrow -.

The ball head - 1 - must engage completely in the operating lever on shift mechanism. Press it down using a small screwdriver if necessary.





- Secure the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) on the retaining hooks - A -.

- Place the cover - A - over the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) and carefully let it engage - 1 through 3 -.





- Connect electrical connectors.

- Check the shift mechanism function before completing assembly. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] Component Tests and General Diagnostics.

- Install front ashtray.
