Installing

- Press torque converter hub through shaft seal as far as first stop.

- Lightly press torque converter inwards and turn until slots on torque converter hub engage in drive lugs on ATF pump gear and torque converter slides in a noticeable distance.

Installation dimension

When converter is inserted correctly, distance - a - between contact surfaces on threaded holes and on converter and torque converter bell housing contact surfaces is at least 22 mm.

If torque converter is not completely inserted, this distance is only approx. 10 mm.

If the torque converter is not properly installed, the drive lugs on the torque converter and the ATF pump will be severely damaged when the transmission is attached to the engine.

- Always use new bolts - arrow - to secure torque converter to drive plate => Parts Catalog.

Note the following when installing the transmission.

Risk of destroying transmission with incorrectly inserted torque converter.

Before and during fastening the engine/transmission connection bolts, check that the torque converter can still be turned behind the drive plate.

If torque converter cannot be rotated, the ATF pump drive plate and therefore the transmission can be destroyed when the connections are tightened to end torque.

- After installing transmission, check ATF level and top off => [ ATF Level, Checking and Filling ] ATF Level, Checking and Filling.
