Torque Support Bracket, Removing and Installing and Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drill

Stepped quick-helix drill (diameter 24 mm)

Removing

- Open the quick-release fasteners - 1 - and remove the front noise insulation.





- Remove both front wheels.

- Remove front part of left and right front wheel housing liner.

- Remove front bumper cover.

- Remove the lower air guide hose from the air filter housing lower section - arrow -.





- Remove right headlamp.

- Separate the electrical connector - 1 - for mass airflow sensor (G70).





- Disconnect vacuum hose - 2 - from air guide hose.

- Loosen hose clamps and lay aside air guide hose - 4 -.

CAUTION!
Hose connectors - 3 - must not be opened.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the right air filter housing upper section.

- Disconnect both vacuum hoses - 1 -.





- Remove the air duct - 2 -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows -.

- Tilt the air filter housing lower section and disconnect the connector - 3 - on the intake air switch-over valve (N335).

- Remove the right air filter housing lower section.

- Depress locking mechanisms - arrows - and remove air guide at right front from lock carrier.





- Remove the bolts - arrows -.





- Remove air guide at right rear from lock carrier.

- Mark holes according to dimensions - a - and - b - at lock carrier as shown.





Dimension - a - = 40 mm.

Dimension - b - = 55 mm

- Make a bore diameter 24 mm.

The bore must be pre-bored and then drilled to 24 mm diameter using the stepped quick-helix drill.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - on the torque support bracket.





- Loosen bolt - 3 - several turns.

- Remove bolt - arrow - at torque support mount.





- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove torque support mount.





Installing

- Turn adjustment ring - 1 - on torque support bracket clockwise as far as stop.





- Tighten the bolts - 1 and 3 - on the torque support bracket.





- Rotate adjustment ring - 1 - counter-clockwise by hand until it comes into contact with torque support bracket.





- Then, turn adjustment ring one rotation clockwise again.

- Tighten bolt - arrow - on torque support mount.





The rest of the installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following.

- Install headlamps.

- Install the front bumper cover.

- Install air filter housing.

- Mount the front wheels.

- Check headlamp adjustment.

Tightening Specifications
