Fuel Injectors
Removing
Fuel system is under pressure! Before opening system, place rags around the connection area. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
- Press both latches in direction of - arrow - and remove engine compartment E-box cover.
- Remove fuel pump (FP) 2 relay (J49) - 2.1 -.
• Removing the fuel pump (FP) 2 relay (J49) prevents the fuel pump from starting when the driver's door is opened.
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.
- Free up electrical wiring harness - 1 - on fuel rail.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove fuel rail - 2 - with fuel injectors from cylinder head and lay it aside with fuel hose connected.
- Pull off retaining clip and remove the relevant fuel injector.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Fuel Rail with Fuel Injectors Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
• Replace o-rings at all opened connection points. (Never remove plastic cap from valve head to replace front o-ring lift off o-ring over plastic cap).
• Lubricate o-rings with clean engine oil.
• Check that fuel injectors are installed in correct position.
• Check clips for proper seating.
• Place fuel rail with secured fuel injectors onto intake manifold, and apply uniform pressure to press it in.
- Install intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.
- Reconnect fuel pump (FP) 2 relay (J49) - item 2.1 - to relay and fuse holder.
