Lower Seat Frame without Seat Depth Adjuster, Cover and Padding
• The work description is based on a manual or power standard front seat and comfort seat.
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove the front seat:
• Manual standard seat, refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.
• Power standard seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) => [ Front Seat, Installing on the ] Front Seat, Installing on the Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136).
- Remove the front backrest:
• Manual standard seat, refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Backrest.
• Power standard seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Backrest.
- Remove the sill side trim retaining bracket.
• Manual standard seat, refer to => [ Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim ] Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim.
• Power standard seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim ] Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim.
- Versions with LATCH (passenger seat only), remove the LATCH, refer to => [ LATCH and Top Tether Child Seat Anchors ] LATCH and Top Tether Child Seat Anchors.
- Storage compartment, removing, refer to => [ Storage Compartment ] Storage Compartment.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and free them up.
- Disengage the front and side areas - A - and - B - of the cover retaining channel - 3 -.
- When disengaging the cover, be careful of the exposed retaining hooks - 1 - on the edge - 2 -.
- Disengage the retaining channel or hooks on the tabs - 1 - at both sides of the seat pan - 3 -.
• LATCH child seat anchor - 2 - removed.
- Disengage the cover retaining channel - 6 - in the area - A -.
- When disengaging the cover, be careful of the exposed retaining hooks - 4 - on the edge - 5 -.
- Remove the cover with upholstery from the seat pan.
Installing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
