Information Electronics Control Module 1, MMI, from September 2008
Information electronics control module 1 (J794) is located in the glove compartment on the left side.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Radio removal tool (T10057)
• Protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9)
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Remove the key.
- If control module is replaced, select replacement function for appropriate control module in guided fault finding routine.
Use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051) to do so.
Removing
CAUTION!
The information electronics control module 1 MOST-Bus wires must be kept short.
Disconnect the MOST-BUS connector on the information electronics control module 1 before removing the information electronics control module 1
There is a service cover on the bottom side of the glove compartment for changing the climate control system pollen filter. The connectors on the information electronics control module 1 can be disconnected when the service cover is removed.
If there is no service cover, the glove compartment must be removed.
The service cover - A - is secured with 4 retainers - C - to the bottom of the glove compartment - B -. The retainers may be difficult to loosen.
- Loosen the retainers - C - and remove the service cover - A -.
- Disconnect all the connectors on the information electronics control module 1.
- Attach the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connector - 2 -.
- Open glove box.
- Insert the two clips from the (T10057) into the slots on the information electronics control module 1 until they engage. Points on the grip eyelets of tool face outward.
- Remove the information electronics control module 1 from the installation frame.
- Remove the (T10057) by pushing the locking tabs on information electronics control module 1.
Installing
- Connect harness connectors.
- Slide the information electronics control module 1 into the installation frame until it engages.
