• Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Transmission support (T40173)
Procedure
• Lock carrier and torque support installed.
• Reinstall cable ties that were loosened or cut off during removal at same locations during installation.
CAUTION!
Heed appropriate instructions for battery disconnection.
- Switch ignition off.
• So that the front wheels can still be turned with the battery disconnected, the battery may only be connected when ignition key is inserted.
- Disconnect battery.
- Remove front and rear noise insulation by loosening fasteners - 2 - and, if equipped, - arrow -.
- Remove heat shields - arrow - for left and right drive axles.
- Remove left and right drive axles from transmission flange shafts.
- Disconnect ATF pipe bracket - arrow -.
• Observe cleanliness rules when working on automatic transmissions => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• To collect escaping ATF, lay a clean cloth under the separating point.
- Remove transmission to engine connecting bolts - 8 through 10 -.
• Flex joint in front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Remove bolts - 2 - on the rear bracket for the front exhaust pipe.
• Disregard items - 1 and 3 -.
