Dual Mass Flywheel
Dual Mass Flywheel
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Extractor (T40176)
• Grease for clutch disc shaft splines (G 000 100)
• Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)
Removing
• Transmission, securing to engine and transmission holder, refer to => [ Transmission, Securing in Engine/Transmission Holder ] Transmission, Securing In Engine/Transmission Holder.
- Remove the left flange shaft.
- Attach the (T40176) to the dual mass flywheel - A - using the nut - B - - arrow -.
- Rotate the (T40176) upward.
• To prevent the dual-mass flywheel from tilting, counter hold it underneath as illustrated.
- Remove the dual-mass flywheel from the input shaft - arrows -.
Danger of causing damage to the transfer plate on the dual mass flywheel.
• Do not lay the dual mass flywheel on one side on the transfer plate - arrow -.
• This could bend the transfer plate - arrow -, which will then lead to functionality problems.
- Set the dual mass flywheel down carefully, for example on the workbench.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:
- Always clean the clutch housing in the area where the differential is accessed - arrow A - and the shaft seal - arrow B -.
• Replace the shaft seal between the differential and transmission housing - arrow B - if it is damaged. Refer to => [ Left Flange Shaft Seal ] Left Flange Shaft Seal.
- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lip half way with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).
- Clean the input shaft - arrow -.
- Lightly grease the input shaft splines with clutch disc spline grease (G 000 100).
- Carefully mount the dual mass flywheel onto the input shaft - arrow - without tilting it.
- Install the left flange shaft. Refer to => [ Left Flange Shaft ] Left Flange Shaft.
