Backrest Cover with Backrest Cushion for Standard Seat

Special hook (3370)

Removing

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Description and Operation.

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Standard Seat ] Standard Seat.

- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.

- Remove the headrest:

=> [ Manually Adjustable Headrests ] Manually Adjustable Headrests.

=> [ Power Headrests ] Power Headrests.

- Remove backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest.

- Detach left and right tabs - 1, 6 - at the back of the backrest frame.






- Detach molding- 2, 3, 4, 5 - at the back of the backrest frame using the special hook (3370).

- Detach left and right hooks of the tabs - 7, 8 - at the back of the backrest frame.

- Remove enough padding from the backrest that the bolt - 7 - for side airbag - 6 - can be removed by carefully pulling backrest cover - 2 - together with backrest cushion - 3 - forward in the area of side airbag as far as possible.






- Release the side airbag 6 with the hook - 5 - from the backrest frame - 4 - and remove it at the bottom from the pocket sewn into the backrest cover - 1 -.

- To prevent the lumbar support from being damaged as the hooks are being pulled off - arrows -, separate backrest cushion from the Velcro strips - 3 - of the lumbar support - 2 -.






- Remove the backrest cover and backrest cushion upward and off the backrest frame while removing the backrest heating wiring harness.

Installing

Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to => [ Standard Seat ] Standard Seat.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Make sure the moldings engage correctly and the backrest cover is situated so as to not be wrinkled.
