Seat Cover with Seat Cushion for Comfort Reclining and Multicontour Seat, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Special hook (3370)

Removing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Description and Operation.

• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

- Remove the front seat:

• Comfort reclining seat => [ Comfort Reclining Seat ] Comfort Reclining Seat

• Multicontour seat => [ Standard Seat ] Standard Seat.

- Attach front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Remove backrest:

• Comfort reclining seat => [ Backrest ] Backrest

• Multicontour seat => [ Backrest ] Backrest.

- Remove the bracket for the front trim, the compressor and the multicontour seat control module. Refer to => [ Front Trim Bracket, Compressor and Multicontour Seat Control Module ] Front Trim Bracket, Compressor and Multicontour Seat Control Module.

- Detach rubber strap - 2 - and molding - 1 - at the front of the seat pan.






- Detach tab hooks - 1 to 4 - at the bottom of the seat pan.






- Detach molding - 5 - at the rear of the seat pan using the special hook (3370).

- Detach tab hooks - 2 - at the front of the trim bracket.






- Detach molding - 3 - on the sill side trim bracket.

- Detach molding - 4 - on the seat pan frame.

- Remove sill side seat bolster padding.

- Detach molding - 2 - on the tunnel side trim bracket.






- Remove tunnel side seat bolster padding.

- Remove expanding rivet - 2 - from the upholstery wire - 1 -.






- Free up upholstery wire in the center - arrow C -.

- Push front upholstery wire down - arrow A - and remove from the front trim bracket - arrow B -.

- Repeat on the opposite side.

- Lift rear seat cover and seat cushion and remove expanding rivets - arrows - for seat depth adjuster cover.






• For the sake of clarity, seat cushion and seat cover are not depicted.

- Remove seat cover and seat cushion with seat depth adjuster cover.

Installing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Description and Operation.

• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

• Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to => [ Standard Seat ] Standard Seat.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
