Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair






Catalytic Converter

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

Removing

During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.

- Disconnect the connectors - 1 - from the oxygen sensor after three way catalytic converter (G130) and heater for oxygen sensor 1 after catalytic converter (Z29) and free up the wires.






- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from the heated oxygen sensor (G39) and oxygen sensor heater (Z19) and free up the wire.

- Remove the air duct - arrows -.






- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from the mass airflow (MAF) sensor (G70).






- Open the clamp - 3 - and remove the air guide hose from the mass airflow (MAF) sensor.

- Remove the air filter housing - 1 - upward.

- Remove noise insulation.

- Remove the front muffler. Refer to => [ Front Muffler ] Front Muffler.

- Disconnect the threaded connection - 1 -, remove the bolt - 2 - and remove the catalytic converter mounting.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the right drive axle heat shield.






- Remove the nuts - arrows - and remove the turbocharger upward.






Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Muffler Overview ] Muffler Overview.

Replace seals and self-locking nuts.

- Install the front muffler. Refer to => [ Front Muffler ] Front Muffler.
