Removing


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

- Switch the ignition on.

- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

- Remove center console. Refer to => [ Center Console ] Center Console.







Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Fold the floor covering on the airbag control module back, and cut the floor covering open along the floor covering if you need to.

- Slide the retainer - 7 - on the connector in the - direction of the arrow -.

- Press the release button - 6 -, opening the retainer - 5 - on the connector and remove the electrical connector - 4 -.

- Remove the nuts - 1 through 3 - and remove the airbag control module - A - from the threaded pins.

Installation


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.

Code the control module after replacing it using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.

The airbag control module (J234) ground connection is achieved via the housing with the body.
