Wiper Control Module: Service and Repair
Windshield Wiper Motor with Wiper Motor Control Module
Removing
- Remove wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.
- Remove the seal - 3 -.
- Remove the clips - 1 - from the mounts and remove plenum chamber cover - 2 -.
- Remove the securing clips - 2 - in the direction of - arrow A -.
The cowl panel trim could be damaged.
• Coat the transition between the windshield and cowl panel trim with some soapy water and carefully pull the cowl panel trim - 1 - vertically out of the retainer on the windshield, in the direction of the - B arrows - beginning at the edge of the window.
- Remove the cowl panel trim - 1 - by carefully removing it from the retainer on the windshield in the direction of the- B arrows -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.
- Remove the drain channel - 3 - on the linkage in the direction of the - A arrows -.
- Remove the bolts - 4, 5 and 6 -.
- Rotate the wiper arm frame - 1 - with the linkage and wiper motor upward in the direction of the - B arrow - and pull it forward out of the plenum chamber.
Installing
Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Motor - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Insert the wiper motor - A - with the wiper frame into the vehicle.
- Tighten bolts, refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Motor - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
- Position the water drain channel - B - on the wiper motor.
- Adjust wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting.
