There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with static discharge.

- Touch the vehicle ground with a bare hand to discharge the static electricity.

To remove the Mechatronic, the wiring harness - B - with the connector - C - must first be disconnected from it. The wiring harness connector remains installed in the transmission housing.

The following description shows the Mechatronic removed. The wiring harness connector is still installed in the transmission housing.

- Remove the wiring harness - A - from the Mechatronic - B -. Disengage the tab - arrow -, on the back of the wiring harness, from the Mechatronic.

If the tab - arrow - on the backside of the wiring harness breaks off, the wiring harness must be replaced.

- Disconnect the connector - C - from the socket - D - on the Mechatronic.

- Carefully lay the wiring harness aside.

The wiring harness is connected to the installed connector and cannot be removed.

- Remove the Mechatronic bolts in reverse order, for example first bolt - 14 -, then - 13 -,... through - 1 -.

Only the indicated bolts - 14 through 1 - may be loosened.

If other bolts are loosened, this may affect the function of the Mechatronic unit or it may come apart.

- Remove the Mechatronic from the transmission.
