Test D: Diagnostic Trouble Code 24:
OPERATION:
After a strut repositioning command, the strut motors are energized at intervals of 12.5 milliseconds to allow individual strut startup current monitoring. The system current is monitored before each strut motor is turned on and, 1 millisecond after turn on, these values are subtracted to determine the strut motor startup current. A strut motor startup current in excess of 1.5 amps in the RH front strut sets diagnostic trouble code 24. The computer command ride (CCR) controller turns on the fault Indicator, but continues to operate all non-faulted struts normally.
The computer command ride (CCR) controller changes strut firmness by applying voltage to the strut motors. The strut motors are grounded by the CCR controller. The CCR controller monitors the movement and the position of the RH front strut at terminal F5.
If the CCR controller detects that the strut position has not changed within 6 seconds of commanding a position, or that the strut is in the wrong position, it sets diagnostic trouble code 24. When diagnostic trouble code 24 is set, the system continues to operate, but the RH front strut is disabled and the fault indicator turns ON.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Open or short to ground In CKT 1006.
- Open or short to ground in CKT 1008.
- Open in CKT 1009.
- Open or short in the RH front strut motor.
