Timing Cover: Service and Repair

ENGINE FRONT COVER REPLACEMENT

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Service and Repair






2. Remove the engine control module (ECM) module. Service and Repair






3. Remove the generator assembly. Generator Replacement (LY7)

4. Remove the coolant overflow reservoir. Service and Repair

5. Remove the power steering reservoir. Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LY7)

6. Remove the camshaft covers.
* For the left camshaft cover - Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side
* For the right camshaft cover - Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side

7. Remove the radiator inlet hose. Service and Repair

8. Remove the coolant outlet.






9. Remove the water pump. Service and Repair

10. Remove the engine splash shield. Service and Repair






11. Remove the crankshaft balancer. 10. Crankshaft Balancer Removal

12. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Service and Repair






13. Remove the engine front cover from the engine block. 15. Engine Front Cover Removal

Installation Procedure






1. Install the engine front cover. 124. Engine Front Cover Installation






2. Install the water pump. Service and Repair

3. Install the camshaft covers.
* For the left camshaft cover - Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side
* For the right camshaft cover - Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side

4. Install the drive belt tensioner. Service and Repair






5. Install the crankshaft balancer. 130. Crankshaft Balancer Installation

6. Install the coolant overflow reservoir. Service and Repair

7. Install the power steering reservoir. Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LY7)

8. Install the radiator inlet hose. Service and Repair

9. Install the coolant outlet.






10. Install the generator assembly. Generator Replacement (LY7)

11. Install engine splash shield. Service and Repair






12. Install the ECM module. Service and Repair

13. Connect the negative battery cable. Service and Repair
