Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair



Secondary Air Injection Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the secondary air injection (AIR) pump.
2. Disconnect the AIR pump hose quick connect fitting (2) from the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
3. Reposition the hose out of the way.




4. Disconnect the AIR feed tube quick connect fitting (1) from the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




6. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
7. Disengage the AIR pump electrical connector clip (1) from the bracket.
8. Remove the AIR pump nuts (3).
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the AIR pump (2).
11. Remove the AIR pump insulators, if necessary.


Installation Procedure




1. Install the AIR pump insulators, if necessary.
2. Install the AIR pump (2) to the bracket.
3. Secure the AIR pump electrical connector clip (1) to the bracket.
4. Raise the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

5. Install the AIR pump nuts.

Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).




7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the AIR feed tube quick connect fitting (1) to the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




9. Connect the AIR pump hose quick connect fitting (2) to the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
10. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the AIR pump.
